May. 3rd, 2006 09:58 pmI found out yesterday that the deadline for the Alien show at Mark Woolley Gallery is today. So I spend most of yesturday and today taking new pictures of artwork, judiciously photoshopping it, and generally getting stuff together. I managed to deliver the submission to the gallery shortly before 4pm today - go me! I have another submission due for the bits and pieces show in Corvallis on Friday, and I am just hoping that my slides get here in time. I spent most of Monday photographing my Arch Castle series print/collages and trying to get them to upload to a place on line that is turning them into slides. They should hopefully arrive via FedEx tomorrow .
Does anyone want to buy some Sunforger, pigment gray, 57" wide canvas? I am seriously considering ordering a 255 yard bale of the stuff. They are seconds (so there is some discoloration) but it is marine boat shrunk and water proof, and with shipping figured in is only $2.50 per yard! I have several people locally who are interested in it, but could really use a few more people in on the deal before I decide to go for it. It will be a bit of a pain as it will have to be shipped by truck and weigh over 200 lbs. I can deal with it, but I really only want 100 yards or so of the stuff.
I got a free Hungarian style saber lesson last night! Lael is using me as one of his teaching guinnea pigs because he is going to be taking his fencing instructor certification tests in saber this summer. My arm is sore - that first position parry is killer when you are used to foil. But I had an awesome time. Most of what I remember of my few sabre lessons back in the day was trying not to get faked out when Zach fainted at my head. I didn't have to worry about getting whacked in the mask because in Hungarian teaching techniques, the student always lands the last blow. So not only did I get to learn some saber, I got to whack on Lael a lot too. :-)
Just so you all don't think life is going too well, I will add that my car now refuses to shift. Well, it will shift into second with a loud "ka-chunk" noise, and then refuses to shift into third gear. This means that I had to miss climbing this morning with Tom, which blew. Instead I freaked out when my car refused to shift going up the hill out of Newberg, then turned around, came home, and had to ask Mom for a ride into Portland to drop off my Alien submission. Luckily Mom was already coming into Newberg. Unfortunately, it was to come to the vet. Her cat just had to have most of it's leg amputated because of a fast growing cancer. This is Mer, one of the cats I helped raise, and we are hoping that she will be ok, but are pretty worried that the cancer may have metastasized. She already went through a toe amputation, where we thought all of the cancer had been removed.
