Yesterday was the day of demos. We did a two session demo in an auditorium at a middle school in Newberg, during which I showed some glass blowing pictures and passed around my fragments of medieval glass. Then we headed over to Sherwood to help out with the demo Ulf was organizing at Sherwood Middle School. These kids were way more bouncy, and I had two 30 min packed classes of hyper kids just waiting to get out of school. I showed them the video I brought back from the Roman Glass Furnace, and passed around glass and tools. They seemed to get at least something out of it, which is good. There were even a few goof questions, and these kids seemed more aware of the chemistry of glass than the Newberg kids. Apparently the teacher though I was going to actually have them *making* glass (which I found out after wards). How I was supposed to teach kids to "make glass" in 30 minutes where there were so many in a room sitting in desks and on the floor that there wasn't even room to walk, and the room was a basic carpeted classroom that was not even vaguely flame proof I don't know. But they seemed satisfied with what they got so it all worked out fine. Generally it went fairly well for being rushed and my not knowing what format I was supposed to be following.

My weight loss attempts have once again been temporarily thwarted, but in such a good way. The problem is that I like good food way too much. Gwynnin & Laura came up last night and we went out to a marvelous dinner at Red Hills Provincial Dining in which many tasty things were consumed. And then we came back here and drank champagne and cider. Then this morning the plan was to go to the cute little tea shop in town, but since they were opening late we ended up at Coffee Cottage where we had amazingly tasty turkey super clubs on croissants. Mmmmm. I am so going to have to go for a long walk today. Just call me weak willed, but it was there last visit up here with Hank and I before they move out east, so festivities were necessary. Tomorrow I will be good, tomorrow I will be good, tomorrow I will be good... :-P

I am about to start pinning the sides onto the red pavilion for sewing. I am writing this so I will actually get off my but and do it. Maybe I can get it all sewn and waterproofed, and maybe even painted by the time Elric gets back from Florida. It is sad - today feels like Sunday rather than saturday because Elric is taking off for Florida tomorrow. :-( But Hopefully I will get a lot done while he is gone.
