Jun. 8th, 2006 02:36 pmToday I received 385 lbs of light gray canvas. Go me! I even managed to get it into my garage!
I get to go pick up Hank from the airport in an hour or so, and I am contemplating swinging by Mill End first to check out their black silk. I went by Fabric Depot after dropping Hank off at the airport on Sunday and picked up some blue silk for my mom's banner, but they didn't have any black of a weight and texture I liked. I am almost done embroidering the flame bits that I am going to applique to dad's banner, so I need the base fabric soon. The flames are pretty cool - I designed them in Embird then had the machine sew them in gold on some gold shot silk, then I went over and split stitched some additional detail and edging on the inside of the design by hand in icky gold DMC. Using that stuff sucks, but is worthwhile for bling. They look awesome. I am going to paint in the gold background dots - I just can't make myself sew on that many gold dots when they will be so easy to paint.
