Went to An Tir / West War this weekend, drank a lot of cider, worked on tan, got lots of mosquito bites on face. Was supposed to talk to royals about the hubby's Kingdom A&S bid because our shire has been bugging us about it and totally forgot. Probably just as well because it was frikkin' HOT and I really just sort of wanted to do nothing, nothing ever again. :-P Today I called University place to see if that site is even still available but the contact person is out of town until the twelfth. Camped in between West and An Tir thrones (almost literally) and could sit under our shade and watch the band that was playing on Saturday night. Also had all the drunks from the party puking on our buddies tents while ours somehow miraculously remained pristine. When I wanted to camp next to Rafny I didn't quite realize what I was in for, but I was definitely entertained. Ate/drank a lot of shaved ice and have decided that we are totally bringing an ice crusher and sauce to the next event even if it is not period. And decided that champagne goes well on shaved ice. Tent fell down three times because of horrid ground that was really hard to get tent stakes into and ridge poles need to be replaced. Brought slack line but forgot stakes which we wouldn't have been able to pound into the ground anyway, so it didn't get set up. Carted tons of stuff up hill in heat to go home - next time I may just move large rocks in the sun in my back yard and let spiders eat me and save myself some trouble.

High points of the event: shaved ice; being told by someone that he liked my juggling performance from back in March; bantering with silly westies and making them laugh - I walked by wearing Merouda's boots (yep - I got them at the uber garage sale) and dude asked me where I got them. I said garage sale (hehe, in some ways better than having made them since I can feel the envy), he asked what size I wore. I said, "8ish". He asked woman near him what size she wore in a way that made my feet feel threatened. I quickly said, "and I can juggle knives," and the bunch of people with them started howling with laughter and told me that should be my reply to everything.

On the modern front, I have one student registered for my calligraphy class that starts tomorrow through park and rec. She is fifteen, and I am hoping she shows up because I wasn't looking at my calender when I decided to start the class on the first Tuesday in July. Still don't have anyone signed up for my book binding class. Considering all the scrap bookers around here I was sure I would get a few, but apparently I was mistaken. Stupid people.

I have two cats trying to sit on my lap which is currently occupied by the computer. Apparently they missed me. Last week we made a cat run for them which they can access through my window - Theo is loving it, Pip is ignoring it which is vexing since we mostly made it for Pip.

I found my coat! I was almost certain it was gone for good, and I found it today while desperately searching for my bathing suit which I now can't find. I am very very very happy since I sewed the whole thing by hand, mostly while I was in Germany last summer. All of my garb is SO getting contact info sewn into the collars now though, in case I ever leave them anywhere - I don't want to worry so much about loosing something I put so much time into. I don't know why I somehow forgot the importance of labeling clothing at some point while growing up. When I was a kid we always labeled things. Of course it was in icky black permanent marker, which may be why I resisted it. I am going to make nice little embroidered tags to sew in. That won't be theft retardant, but should help in case something actually gets lost.
