Historic Workshop LLC

I am taking a month off of soldering for Anne Garrison Design in order to build up stock, take pictures, and deal with issues like shipping materials and shipping costs for Historic Workshop. Our grand opening is on July 9th! Now we just have to get everything ready... somehow... ;-) Tomorrow I take my last batch of soldering up to Portland, and then I return to the grind stone!

Note - for some reason our website says we are opening on June 9th - nonononono! JULY 9th. Need to get this fixed soonest! :-P Various other blurbs on the website are not entirely accurate, and will be changed before we open.

Swiming is good

But I am not currently good at swimming. Today I went for my second swim of the year and man have my skilz gone down hill. Gee what a surprise, since I haven't been swimming since last fall except for last week :-P. About a year and a half ago I could swim a mile (that would be 16 full laps in an olympic sized pool). Today I could do about a lap and a half before being out of breath. I managed to swim 14 laps, with pauses. I am going to try to get my swimming in at least once per week. It is good low impact cardio, and I like the water, though the heavily chlorinated water at the gym not as much. By the end of the summer I would like to be able to swim a mile again. While I will never be able to run a mile (stupid knees) swimming a mile at least partially makes up for it. I also love the way I feel after swimming - totally limp and relaxed like a warm noodle. Add the hot tub at the end and aside from horridly dry skin and hair it is perfection.
