SCA Sunglasses and Hats - Help!
Aug. 12th, 2007 07:35 pmThis tourney season has been pretty good for me partially because of my lack of migraines this summer. Sadly, one of the reasons this is so is because of constant use of sunglasses and sun-hats at bright events. I don't mind the hat so much, but the sunglasses make me feel like a total dork. I know this is ok if it lets me hang out and not be stuck in a ball of pain on my camp bed, but I am looking at other options.
Option #1: Peri-oid sunglasses
I am contemplating trimming down some lenses to fit into a medieval style glasses frame (probably to be made by me). I will still look like a freak, but at least I will be entertained while looking silly. So, please post links to medieval glasses frames, or references if you have them. I have found a few, but would love more.
Option #2: Hat or head covering with veil
Dad suggested that I try wearing a hat with a veil to cut down on more light than just a normal hat. So, any ideas about period hats or head coverings where it would be appropriate to have a veil that would actually shelter my eyes? I might even need several layers since I am apparently horrendously light sensitive. I am thinking doing something middle eastern might have more possibilities, but I am interested in ideas from any SCA appropriate area and time period. This is all brain storming for next summer, because I am going to need garb to go with whatever I come up with. Once again, links and references to images would be great.
