For those of you who are relatively new to my journal, I confine most of my glass news to my other journal, [profile] medievalglass. I haven't posted a lot recently, but finally updated it, and hope to be doing so more frequently now that we are making progress on our glass furnace. And on that note, we are still planning on making a wood-fired medieval style furnace in the next couple of years. So, if you have extra firewood, we are looking for donations! It will literally take a couple of tons of seasoned wood to keep the glass furnace running for a few weeks, which is our goal. Green wood now means seasoned wood later... Our project is inspired by the Roman Furnace Project that Elric and I visited last year. We already have a metal structure up under which we will build the furnace, now we just need to have enough time (i.e. get our house built and move in before dealing with frivolous glass furnace type items), money for things like pyrometers and scales so we can keep good records of the project, volunteers to help stoke and chop wood, and enough wood to run the thing.
