Since I am planning on having a coat of plate I can have colored armor. Colored leather is documentable and I am trying to decide what color I want. Obviously heraldic colors would make sense and my heraldry contains green, purple, and yellow. I think yellow is just out. Purple would make me look like a big fighting grape which is mildly tempting. Green is my favorite color, but I think there are quite a few fighters with the green armor thing going on. I could just say screw heraldry, I'll have a heraldic shield, and have a red coat of plate since red is my current other favorite color... And the there is the issue of shield. I am currently leaning toward a center grip round because I like them, even though I can probably barely hold one up - I am hoping that I will be buff enough by the time my stuff is done that I will be able to handle it. After all, I am doing all of that rock climbing and weight lifting...

The use of leather in a coat of plates is okay, just don't use suede. If I recall correctly, cloth backing is more documentable... I'll have to check my sources. Shield wise, most in the period when coat of plates were used are heaters, though some rounds are seen in eastern europe.

Working out will help tons.
