I am so non-discriminate in what I read, as long as when I am in a reading mood I have enough books to get me through several days (so at *least* four or five books). Because of this I have fairly lenient standards. Humor is good. Good characters count for a lot. The reason I don't read more good books is that so many of them are depressing and I am an escapist. And there are simply not enough others that I haven’t already read which are available on short notice or for 50 cents a piece at the library book sales to keep me occupied. I have re-read most of my favorite series so many times that I just find whatever is available instead of going back to them. Speaking of which, someone should lend me the shanarra series since I haven’t read any recent ones because I don't remember the first ones well enough. Anyway, I usually read Sci-fi and fantasy if I can get it, then fun mysteries with good characters (think Elizabeth Peters, Rita Mae Brown), humorous main stream and romance next (Catherine Coulter, Amanda Quick, Janet Evanovich), and then thrillers. Favorite current author and book: Diamond Age by Neil Stephenson. Current reading project: re-read all 14 Wizard of Oz books (I of course own them all). One of these days I will actually read all 21 volumes of the Arabian Nights. I just always get bogged down around the 3rd or 5th book... Anyway, people should bing me books to read when they visit next. I am bored and currenly out except for one Wizard of Oz book wich is not sophisticated enough for my current mood. I could, of course, work on my thesis and read real scholarly stuff, but that is boring.

So my thesis advisor apparently is not getting email in Italy after all. Which definitely causes difficulties in communication. Since she needs to read my thesis drafts and faxing stuff to her is expensive, especially thesis length stuff. And there is the little issue of having lost her fax number. Which all and all makes communication very dificult. Eep. Sigh. I know I have her fax number somewhere but where??? Unfortunently when I asked in the slide library they weren't certain they had a fax number for her.
