FIghting and Gardening Oh My
May. 7th, 2007 05:43 pmIn between the tons of soldering I have been doing (yay monies! SO boring though...) I have been getting in some pell work, and I just hung a carpet-roll pell from the walnut tree in our back yard. I could stand to have a bit more carpet to give it more weight, but I can swing hard at it and not jar my arm, which is nice. I can also really feel the difference between when a shot connects just right and when it is just ok. Woo hoo! Now I just need to set up my slack line and I will have a back yard full of summer entertainment!
I have also bee going outside and puttering around in the yard/garden. It is definitely starting to look nice. I am already harvesting greens and radishes out of my raised beds, have a bunch of other things planted, and have been working on improving our gone to seed landscaping and excavating the zombie blackberry roots. I have a hammock set up in the partial sun, which was perfect today. Today was SO NICE! I just wanted to hang out outside all day, but had to make myself get stuff done. Hopefully this weekend we will get a chance to put in another raised bed, and this one I am thinking should be a fun shape rather than a rectangle. It will be in the more landscaped garden section of the yard, and I am thinking a "U" shape or maybe a cross would work well there. There is a brick path that I need to rescue and a lot of blackberry roots still to be excavated there, but I am really looking forward to having that part of the yard looking nice again. Theo really likes me gardening too - he is very "helpful". Especially where I am doing container planting with catnip on the deck. ;-)
