Mom and I made a ton of food today. I convinced her into trying the cook ahead thing with me, and we decided to concentrate on dishes that could be made with ground beef, and to a lesser extent tomato sauce. We made a whole bunch of spaghetti sauce (with meat and onion and garlic and various herbs - my fav.), lasagna, swedish meatballs, tamale pie, meat loaf, stuffed peppers, and stuffed cabbage rolls. Oh, and some leftover rice, since that freezes pretty well. Hopefully now I can be a forgetful artist but not eat too much fast food. Or spend too much money on sandwiches and sushi which is the other thing that often happens. We kept to lean ground beef and low-fat choices so it should all be relatively safe. Next time we do this we will concentrate on thai food, but this was quick and everything was easy to find cheap on short notice. Now I will have *something* around the house when I stumble in from my studio starving. And this way dad can just take something out of the freezer to eat. I really do like cooking, the problem is sometimes I get so into whatever I am doing that I forget about eating until I start feeling sick, and then I tend to just eat whatever is convenient, which hasn't helped with loosing weight.

I also went to the bouldering gym today and signed a year contract. I bouldered until my hands ached, which sadly wasn't that long. Now I just need to keep it up! Amazing how I managed to gain 10 lbs working at a gym. Now I need to drop it with interest. :-P

Yup - me 10 lbs ago! Well, I am actually pretty lucky in that no one seems to have noticed the additional inch but me. On the other hand, I matter. So I need to get off my but and do something about it in addition to complain a lot. ;-)

That is such a good idea, I have been meaning to do it forever, but....
I just need to get off my ass and spend an ENTIRE day cooking, it would save me so much time on those really busy days!

I highly recomemnd setting a date with someone else - then you will have to do it! :-) Also, splitting buying with someone means that you don't just buy the easiest thing - it is easier to shop at a few different places without panic. We didn't even spend a whole day cooking. We started around noon and I finished dishes and clean-up around 6. We probably could have made twice as much stuff in that amount of time, but we want to see what the spouses will actually get around to eating.
