Ok, almost every single google result says that Vandy is Vanderbilt University. Finally, in the middle of page 5:

Vandy is a victim who just won’t lie down and be a "kafir." What he is most, is a loving Father. As the film opens, we see Vandy and his family waking before dawn to send his only son, Dia off to his first day of school.
So yep, Vandy is Leonardo DiCaprio. ;-)

Finally, on page 8 of the search engine, many college entries and one more movie entry later there is something new:
